This workshop is designed to help participants unlock personal insights, release stagnant energy, and deepen their connection to their true selves, all while exploring the fun, hands-on, playful process of mandala creation. Using watercolors, markers, colored pencils, and mixed media, participants will explore the philosophy and art of various mandala traditions, including chakra symbolism, Buddhist mandala practices, and more. Each class will include: - A short guided meditation to ground and center participants Instruction on the art of making mandalas - Brief background on both the traditional spiritual practices and modern uses of mandalas in meditation - Plenty of time to enter into the process of creating mandalas, moving out of our heads and into our hands, hearts and bodies, as we create - Guided reflection through journal prompts and discussion to encourage insight and deepen understanding - Sharing of an herbal tea to nourish and to offer space for community connection - Practices for taking the insights gained during the class into our daily lives Absolutely no prior experience or skill is needed for this inclusive “playshop.” Come as you are! All supplies are provided. Katy’s work with One Small Stone was featured in the April 2022 edition of Good Housekeeping. Katy is a certified Meditation Instructor and a Mindful Schools Mindfulness Foundations graduate. She holds a BA from Dartmouth College, an MPA from New York University, and a certificate from Cornell’s Civic Ecology Lab.
