Coffee, Conversation and the Climate

Engaging conversation on thought-provoking articles. All welcome.

Service Description

Offered in partnership with Sheldrake Environmental Center. Register here: Believe it or not, talking about climate change is the #1 thing we can do to stop it. Think about it: how often do you discuss climate change? If you’re like most Americans, you answer “rarely” or “never.” Our collective silence is its own type of climate change denial. So, let’s start talking! Not only a powerful solution, these facilitated conversations are fun, interesting and easy to jump into - for climate change newbies as well as seasoned pros. We’ll use the book THE BIG FIX by Hal Harvey and Justin Gillis, which outlines “7 practical steps to save our planet," as the basis for 8 weekly conversations. Katy will also share links each week to podcasts and videos that provide additional perspectives on the topics. Participants should expect to spend approximately 30 minutes a week reading and/or listening to material between sessions. The book can be purchased as a paper, electronic, or audible book. It can also be checked out from the library. Podcasts and videos will be provided. Session dates/time: Tuesdays from 7:45pm to 9pm, 1/17 to 3/14 (8 Tuesdays, no class on Tuesday 2/21/23) Cost: $75 Location: on Zoom Registration:
