Climate Cafe
Got the climate feels? Find community & support.
Service Description
Believe it or not, most of us are pretty worried about climate change. Also, most of us don't talk about it. Ooof. Big feelings without an outlet? That's a tough combination. Join this 90-minute "climate cafe" for a facilitated conversation to connect with other concerned people and to create space for some of the hard feelings. We'll meet online (Zoom link sent after registration) from 7:30 to 9pm ET. This session is based on the work of LaUra Schmidt and Aimee Lewis Reau, in their book "How to Live in a Chaotic Climate: 10 Steps to Reconnect With Ourselves, Our Communities, and Our Planet" and in their FLOW program. Find more about them and their programs at GoodGriefNetwork.org To help explain what this conversation is - and is not - I'm borrowing these bullet points from the Climate Psychology Alliance (www.climatepsychology.us). What is a Climate Cafe? - An informal, open, respectful, confidential space to safely share emotional responses and reactions related to the climate and environmental emergency (i.e. a “container”). - A space for exploration of thoughts, feelings and experiences rather than what we are DOING about the climate crisis. - A quiet, reflective experience – a haven from usual busyness and activity. - Not designed to lead participants to any conclusion or toward action (actions can be discussed, but reflection is paramount). If you have questions, comments, concerns, etc., please email me at Katy@onesmallstone.net. Or, if you're game to give this a try, please register at the "book now" link. A zoom link will be sent to registrants a few days before the event.
