The Ripple Effect from One Small Stone

One Small Stone is rooted in 3 beliefs:
We all make a difference...
“You cannot get through a single day without having an impact on the world around you... You have to decide what kind of difference you want to make." - Jane Goodall
…because we are all interconnected.
We are caught in an inescapable network of mutuality, tied in a single garment of destiny. Whatever affects one directly, affects all indirectly.” - Martin Luther King, Jr.
Mindfulness is key to making a healthy difference across this interconnected network. Mindfulness enables us to be our most authentic, best selves, to make wise and compassionate choices, to move through the world in the way that feels best for us and those around us.
“We ask ourselves, 'Who am I to be brilliant, gorgeous, talented, fabulous?' Actually, who are you not to be? … Your playing small does not serve the world. … We are all meant to shine, as children do. … And as we let our own light shine, we unconsciously give other people permission to do the same. As we are liberated from our own fear, our presence automatically liberates others.” - Marianne Williamson
One small stone makes a difference. It all ripples out.
So what do we do?
Practice together.
The One Small Stone meditation community gathers together online 3 times a week to cultivate our own individual habit of mindfulness – which is somehow easier and more delightful in community. As I’ve heard Lodro Rinzler say, it’s the difference between singing in the shower and singing in a choir. Both are fun – but one feels more powerful, more supported.
We practice not to get better at meditation, but so that we can move through the world in a way that feels better for ourselves and the people around us.
Pool our money.
While that act of developing mindfulness is the thing – the big thing that changes the way we show up for each other – we do also ripple out financially. All the money that people pay to attend the One Small Stone meditations is donated (100%) to climate change organizations.
So far, we’ve given $5,173 ($2,463 in 2025) and I feel like we’re just getting started. Here’s the full accounting:

Gather in person to make even more waves.
We gather in person for special workshops and events. You can find upcoming events on the website or see photos of past events on Instagram. A lot of the money from these programs was also donated. In 2025, One Small Stone donated $2,500 to Washingtonville Housing Alliance and $2,500 to Environmental Voter Project. This $5,000 was earned through One Small Stone’s other programming, such as sound baths, therapeutic art workshops, etc.).
