It is human to want to avoid feelings of sadness and anger. But...that is a no-can-do situation. I'm sorry. Doubly unfortunate: when we distract ourselves in an effort to avoid the hard feelings, we also inadvertently distract ourselves from noticing moments of joy. Meditation lets us practice staying in the present moment, so that we can truly enjoy small moments and really relish the big.
