What's your favorite book, movie, food, vacation spot, [fill in the blank]?

Book: To Kill A Mockingbird. I loved this as a kid and read it to both of my own daughters when they were ~10. We now have a family joke that whenever anybody says the word "pants," one of us pauses and says, "Pants, sir?"

What's one question that I should have asked? How would you answer it?

Guilty pleasure: Watching old episodes of Whose Line Is It Anyway (the Drew Carey years, not the later years when it just got unnecessarily raunchy and predictable)

How did you come to join the One Small Stone community?

I met Katy through an All We Can Save circle that she most expertly facilitated. Before it started, I told her that I thought I wouldn't like it because it sounded a little too "woo-woo" for me, but she warmly welcomed me and gave me confidence to keep going. I ended up loving it and it gave me the safe space I'd been looking for to talk about all the big feels related to climate change.

How long have you been meditating and how did you start?

I started meditating 5-6 years ago when my then-school-age kids seemed to need an outlet for their stress. I started meditating with them. So I cut my teeth on New Horizon meditation stories for kids and — guilty secret — they still work really well for me even though I am a middle-aged lady. Nowadays I don't meditate as much as I want to but I wish I did.

Do you have pets?

Currently I have 1 dog, a mutt named Shea. Growing up I had all the pets: Dogs, cats, gerbils, hamsters, fish, sheep, goats, and — as the absolute luckiest kid on the planet — my very own horse. I'm sort of sad that my own kids don't get to experience that kind of life.
