Dear community,
“In a real sense all life is inter-related. All men are caught in an inescapable network of mutuality, tied in a single garment of destiny. Whatever affects one directly, affects all indirectly.” - Martin Luther King Jr.
“All flourishing is mutual.” - Robin Wall Kimmerer
“[Mutual aid] is a deep belief in and commitment to inseparability: that my well-being is inseparable from yours and that, in caring for yours, I care for myself and, more than that, for the larger whole that is us, because we are in this together. That is, we are not mutual because of the exchange of aid; we aid each other because we are already mutual.” - Rebecca Solnit
I’m thinking about the relative strength of one strand vs. three strands braided together. I’m thinking about the feeling of fear in isolation vs. solidarity in connection. I’m thinking about our ability to drop small pebbles out into the world and ripple out change, change that can be magnified and turned into slightly larger ripples when we act together. I’m not saying we are creating a tidal wave, but I am saying that I’m deeply, truly appreciative of your presence – of the financial donations you’ve made and, even more, of you, of your being here – because I think togetherness matters.
Below is an accounting of the money we’ve donated to date, as a community*. I hope this continues. I hope that we also find more ways (within the reality of busy schedules, etc.) to foster more mutual aid, more connection, more possibilities.

**Starting last summer, we’ve been on a regular schedule of donating to a new non-profit every two months. I’d like to continue that and would love to find ways to support initiatives that are already important in your lives. How can we offer mutual aid? Maybe through financial donation of these subscriptions and maybe through other in-kind donations, conversations, encouragement, etc.
In that vein, my suggestion for the non-profit recipient for the next two months (July and August 2025) is Rewiring America. (There can also be plenty of metaphorical links to rewiring our neural pathways in meditation! :) If you like podcasts, here’s one with Rewiring America’s CEO. AND, Sara Conklin (scroll about halfway down for her intro) is a certified “electrification coach” with Rewiring America. I got to attend one of Sara’s sessions on “why & how to electrify” and found it really informative, hopeful, and also fun! Love that combo! I am aiming to schedule a time (I know - hard!) that we could come together and do a session with Sara. As always, no pressure! But, be on the lookout for an invitation, just in case it works for you!
And, also in this vein, what other things are already in your life where we could offer support? I know there is already a lot and we don’t need to reinvent wheels! I look forward to more conversation.
xo,
Katy
